Priyanka Shailendra has been a part of the Indian film industry (Bollywood) for over 15 years, gaining extensive experience in filmmaking across production, direction, and writing. As a member of a renowned Bollywood family known for their contributions as writers and lyricists, Priyanka has been immersed in the world of cinema and music since childhood, constantly aspiring to create magic through visuals. She has written three Bollywood feature films currently in progress—The Artist, Bloody Story, and Me—crafted for different entities in India. Her creative adaptability has allowed her to meet the evolving requirements of broadcasters, and she recently contributed as an assistant producer on Shazia Javed’s Potluck Ladies, aired on Hollywood Suites and YES TV.
Priyanka has successfully ventured into directing, showcasing her talents across various platforms. She has helmed commercials for prominent brands such as Yes Bank, Gili Apparels, and Zee Ozee Network. Her short film The Unnamed Crime was nominated at the Mumbai International Women’s Film Festival in 2013, further solidifying her directorial prowess while also producing the same. She also directed a musical short film for Zoom TV featuring former Miss India Ankita Shorey, produced by the esteemed music channel helmed by the Times of India group.
As a producer, Priyanka continues to create impactful content that connects with audiences worldwide. She had the opportunity to produce a show for Disney Hotstar back in India in 2020 while her recent short film, Dark Memories, which she also directed and wrote, premiered at the IFFSA Festival 2024. The film explores the story of a girl haunted by the trauma of the male gaze in India and its repercussions in Canada. Dark Memories is currently making its way through international festivals. Another of her produced works, Friends at My Expense, created in association with Millennial X, was showcased at the Nuit Blanche Festival Toronto 2023. Priyanka’s feature film Frozen earned critical acclaim at the Canadian Film Festival pitch platform in 2023 and the BIG PITCH at TIFF 2024, reflecting her skill in storytelling that resonates across cultural boundaries. Priyanka is an Alum of the Norman Jewison CFC(Canadian Film Center) Producer’s Film Program 2024 and is now actively working in the production world within the Canadian Film and Television industry along with the Indian Film industry as well.
